1 Full-time/Part-time Full-Time Position Type Administration Job Summary/Basic Function
The Academic Dean provides leadership for planning, budgeting, organizing, scheduling, overseeing personnel matters, and has oversight of the academic area to ensure the teaching and learning standards and delivery of quality programs/courses in support of the institution’s mission. Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in one of the disciplines the Dean provides leadership for
• Three years administrative experience
• Three years teaching experience at the college level Preferred Qualifications
• Doctorate degree in one of the disciplines the Dean provides leadership for or in Education.
• Five to seven years administrative experience
• Ten years teaching experience preferably at the community college
• A firm commitment to the ideals and mission of the community college Months Per Year 12 Hours Worked Per Week 40 Work Schedule Typical schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST with an hour lunch Supervision Exercised
Full and part time faculty members of Arts and Sciences divisions Supervision Received

Provide assistance and support for all employees supervised and promote professional development within the faculty of Arts and Sciences. Job Duty
Promote a collegial environment supportive of faculty and staff for continued growth and learning. Job Duty
Provide leadership for the strategic development of new programs based on community need, and as budgeted and forecasted. Job Duty
Provide leadership in implementing and sustaining program accreditation and certifications, as relevant. Job Duty
Maintain the currency and viability of existing programs through such activities as program review, and through the development of partnerships with industry and four-year institutions, where feasible. Job Duty
Promote quality instruction by overseeing the tenure of new faculty and conducting timely and regular teaching observations/evaluations for both full-time and part-time faculty per faculty contract at all locations. Job Duty
Support faculty in assessment of student learning outcomes in all programs and certificates and provide direction for program improvement. Job Duty
Develop and maintain budgets, and develop plans for capital requests in a timely manner per request of the office of the Vice President of Finance. Job Duty
Participate in Advisory Board meetings and other program-related associations/organizations, as related to the curricular area. Job Duty
Recruit, select, and develop full-time and part-time faculty with appropriate credentials to fit the requirements of the position description. Job Duty
Manage for effectiveness the course schedule and assignment of faculty load, per faculty contract and ensure a schedule supporting student needs. Job Duty
Mediate between faculty and students and/or others, in compliance with federal and state laws and college policies and procedures. Job Duty
Supervise personnel in the Dean’s office and other direct reports per function of the academic area. Job Duty
Serve on institutional committees and work collaboratively with other areas of the College. Job Duty
Ensure academic integrity of all educational offerings within the Arts & Sciences. Job Duty
Support and promote the effective use of existing and emerging technologies in the teaching learning process. Job Duty
Prepare institutional state and national reports as required on a timely basis. Job Duty
Seek and administer additional funding sources such as grants. Job Duty
Meet regularly with Division Chairs Job Duty
Implement special projects or duties as assigned by the Vice President of Arts & Letters and Diversity, Equity & Belonging Job Duty
Advise and monitor faculty leadership in general education Job Duty
