A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dental & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) invites applications for a non-exempt Treatment Coordinator/Orthodontic Assistant on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Director of Operations, Orthodontics and Lead Dental Assistant. The Treatment Coordinator/Orthodontic Assistant will handle new patient life cycle treatment coordinating, reporting, and patient follow-up, as well as orthodontic four-handed chairside assisting.

Major Job Duties:
  • Coordinate all new patient exams and track/follow-up with patients, create and track reports on conversion rates and follow-up with new patients, present treatment plan options, chairside specialty assistant in Orthodontics (four-handed assisting). Take Orthodontic specialty x-rays and images, including CBCT scans with iCAT, Pan/Cephs, and hand/wrist films, and take iTero intraoral scanning.
  • Assist Orthodontic residents with specialized Orthodontic four-handed chairside assisting. Stock clinic and operatories deliver and pick up sterilization carts from clinic area, general administrative and clinic duties as assigned. Independently complete daily and weekly assigned maintenance tasks and reports as assigned. Attend daily, weekly, and monthly on-site meetings and present conversion rate information as assigned.
  • Weekly and monthly clinic task list.
  • Run daily, weekly, and monthly Dolphin reports to track conversion, recalls, patient follow-up, and production rates.
  • Stock dental units and clinic.
  • TC/OA is to help in all areas as requested by any teammate, faculty, manager, director, resident or student of the Ortho Clinic.

  • This role is to support those who are learning and patience on procedures is necessary.

Skills/Requirements:
  • Orthodontic treatment coordinating, orthodontic office experience, customer service experience; orthodontic four handed assisting; computer experience, and infection control.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Intermediate to expert computer skills.
  • Infection control/HIPAA/FERPA/OSHA experience.
  • CPR/AED certified, DANB X-ray certification.
  • Treatment coordinating and front office experience; excellent communication skills, maturity and dependability.
  • Ability to self-direct and multi-task, work in a fast paced environment, and stay on task while incurring multiple interruptions.
  • Four handed Orthodontic assisting; sterilization, OSHA, HIPAA, FERPA, and infection control standards/regulations
    Dolphin software module proficiency.
  • X-ray proficiency including iCAT scans, Pan/Cephs, PA films, handwrist films, and iTero scanning.
    Lab skills (pouring models, creating digital models).
  • Flexible, positive, friendly, task-oriented, hard working team player.
  • Able to complete tasks individually and independently; works well in a group/team environment in a timely manner
  • Able to adjust to different personalities and situations.
  • Mature and maintain levels of exceptional customer service and composure at all times.
  • Able to critically think and problem solve.
  • Kind and respectful to patients, residents/students, faculty, and fellow employees.
Physical Demands:
  • Chairside orthodontic assisting and treatment plan consulting: standing and sitting, tearing down/setting up operatories, seating/dismissing patients, retrieving supplies.

  • Ability to walk up to and over 5 miles per day, on your feet 75%+ of the day.
