UHSPs College of Global Population Health would be the first in the nation to place a global lens on population health.

This new college at UHSP focusing onglobal population health has the following general goals:
  • Educating and training the next generation leaders who focus on improving the health of populations
  • Engaging with diverse stakeholders and community partners to conduct meaningful research in population health, seeking to improve outcomes of shared interest and to identify scalable interventions that can reduce health inequities and transform healthcare delivery within the defined population

  • This new College will build on existing academic programs in global health and expand academic offerings and researchrelated to public and population health. This will help us attract new students to UHSP and is complementary to our current global health and research initiatives such as our Center for Health Outcomes Research and Education (SCORE). Furthermore, a COGPH could explore synergistic collaboration with Washington University School of Medicines Institute for Informatics (I2) which has recently established a Center for Population Health Informatics that is actively engaged in developing and studying innovative uses for data and technology at the point of care and beyond to improve population health outcomes. The vision and mission for the COGPH will be refined after this new college is established and engages more deeply with both internal and external stakeholders including community, health system and global partners, and building this partnership ecosystem will be of paramount importance for the founding dean to lead as this new College moves forward.

The founding dean will be charged with bringing together the UHSP community including faculty in the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and professionals at the University and in the community to further refine plans for the new college. UHSP currently consists of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and the College of Arts and Sciences, each headed by a dean. Additionally, the University is led by the president and six vice presidents reporting to the president. The dean of the College of Arts and Sciences provides academic leadership for the Department of Liberal Arts and the Department of Basic Sciences which combined consists of about 30 full-time faculty but is expanding and developing new bachelor's programs. The dean of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy serves as the leader of the faculty and chief administrative officer for the College. The St. Louis College of Pharmacy contains two departments, the Department of Pharmacy Practice and the Department of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences, which includes 50 full-time faculty members. The vice presidents oversee the following areas: campus life; finance; university relations & enrollment services; operations; program development and strategic initiatives; and research.

The founding dean of the COGPH has primary responsibility for developing the new Colleges strategic vision; planning and deploying the human, capital, and financial resources; and advancing the College as a research and learning environment and workplace that is affirming for all.
