Communications Coordinator, Alumni Relations

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
This position supports all communication and marketing projects conducted by the Office of Alumni Relations to drive alumni engagement and volunteerism. Key to this role is the development of invitations and marketing campaigns for events and programs; content creation (and updating) for alumni website, newsletters, and social media; Drafting reports and presentations. Additionally, this position supports general office needs and coordinates job requests between Alumni Relations and Institutional Advancement- Office of Strategic Communications. This position reports to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Alumni Relations Communications & Marketing Solicit, write, plan, and edit content; create graphics; gather assets, and produce electronic and print communications for alumni relations activities. Partner with Alumni Relations colleagues to develop and execute creative marketing plans, messaging, and content for all alumni events and communications including event invites, programs, events, and marketing collateral. Support development of presentations including talking points, content creation, graphics, charts, and reports. Edit and proofread outgoing Development correspondence, proposals and other communications for completeness, accuracy and branding. Stay abreast of fundraising priorities, school news, faculty research, events, and alumni activities to incorporate into communications to constituents. Report on the results of communication activities through such activities as tracking open- and click-through rates and general readership statistics for online and print communications. Set up and send marketing emails to targeted lists. Segment messaging and conduct A/B testing for maximum email opens and clicks. Provide regular analytics reports and suggest improvements. Coordinate award and board member outreach campaigns and nomination forms. Partner with Alumni Relations Specialist to ensure constituent information from events and other campaigns are shared with Advancement Services for the Raiser's Edge Platform which is the IA database of record. Coordinate LinkedIn group membership and posts.

2. General Office Support and Coordination of Communications Projects Between Alumni Relations and Institutional Advancement Strategic Communications. Provide administrative support to Office of Alumni Relations including phone, emails, creating requisitions and PO orders, and ordering of office supplies. Create and coordinate marketing requests with IA Strategic Comms team. Write project briefs, gather assets, update marketing calendars. Collaborate with colleagues to create strong and consistent alumni relations messages and develop online, print, and HTML materials as needed. Prepare and send projects to print (working with internal and external vendors) and coordinate pick up and distribution of printed collateral.

3. Alumni Website Coordinate UVU's alumni web presence, creating content, suggesting story ideas, and engaging UVU staff to continuously enhance the site. Coordinate content and images on the alumni website. Create new pages from templates, post and update content and images, create content that drives alumni engagement. Ensure content is fresh, brand-compliant, and aligned with strategic messaging. Maintain and promote alumni small business directory.

4. Social Media Oversee a results-driven social media strategy; Help create and manage social media content on multiple platforms (Primarily on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.) Secondarily, on TikTok, Snapchat, Alumni App, emerging digital, etc.); Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments; Review analytics and create reports on key metrics. Identify and analyze high-engagement posts for replication.

5. Special projects as assigned. Participates in special projects and events as needed; work may include nights and weekends

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of successful project management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of communication, marketing, and email best practices.
  • Google Analytics and ease of working with digital platforms.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to differentiate audiences and create targeted, audience-specific messaging using the appropriate vehicle.
  • Experience and proficiency with social media platforms, web content management, and email distribution systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and willingness and ability to master proprietary database tools. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and video editing a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and facilitate teamwork.
  • Strong work ethic in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
  • Creativity, adaptability, diplomatic skills, and affability.
  • Ability to take a project from inception to completion with adaptive problem solving, meeting numerous deadlines and objectives, and managing multiple concurrent projects with limited resources.

Pay Range: $34,497 - $43,121
