Lecturer - Companion, Zoo, and Exotic Animal Sciences

The Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences (ASCI) at the University of Vermont invites applications for a renewable, two-year, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, full-time Lecturer Position to ideally begin in Spring 2021. This is a 9 month (1.0 FTE) teaching, advising and service position. 

The person hired will be primarily responsible for teaching the Introduction to Animal Science (ASCI 001) course, as well as undergraduate courses in the Companion, Zoo and Exotic Animal focus area of the Animal and Veterinary Science program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop, expand and teach courses that complement existing course offerings within the Companion, Zoo and Exotic Animal focus area. Contributions to undergraduate experiential and service learning program opportunities will be expected. This faculty member will also contribute to the service requirements of the Department and University and is expected to have a strong participation in undergraduate advising. 

Minimum qualifications include a Masters, Ph.D., or DVM degree in Animal or Veterinary Science or a related discipline with a terminal professional degree preferred. The University is interested in a highly-motivated professional with demonstrated proficiency in companion animal, zoo, and/or exotic animal health, management and/or behavior. The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences has approximately 324 ASCI undergraduate majors and 76 ASCI undergraduate minors in four focus areas of study: Pre-Veterinary/Pre-Professional Science; Companion, Zoo and Exotic Animals; Equine Science; and Dairy Science/Management.
