Position Summary
The Property Specialist will perform a variety of foodservice activities such as receiving, maintaining, and reordering food products and supplies; cleaning, stocking, and organizing food service areas; placing price stickers on products; and preparing and serving simple foods in a volume dining facility.

While providing this support, the position will provide excellent customer service to faculty, management staff, classified staff, vendors, and resident student customers. This position adheres to the Service Standards set by Housing Food Services and sets the example for other positions by exhibiting appropriate professional behavior creating a respectful and inclusive work environment.

The Property Specialist will also
  • Prioritize work as the day progresses, to ensure food and supplies are in the proper area at the right time.
  • Determine correct amount of products to order in coordination with manager
  • Verify that food and equipment meet specifications upon receipt.
  • Ensure proper storage protocols to prevent spoilage.
  • Follow simple recipes and safe food handling practices.
  • Recognize when a piece of equipment is not working properly and report that information to the supervisor.
  • Exhibit appropriate respectful behavior that enhances the goal of being a multicultural organization

    Special Requirements:
  • Must have, or ability to obtain, a Lane County Food Handler's card within 2 weeks of employment.
  • Must take and be able to understand Hazard Communication Training supplied by employer.
  • Must be able to read and write in English for purpose of reading menus, worksheets, preparing usage reports, and understanding policies, procedures, and safety information.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Experience performing stores and inventory work;
    And
  • Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems, and transportation agencies, and shipping methods.
    Professional Competencies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professional demeanor during rush periods.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize duties and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with related computer software (Microsoft Office, Outlook, shipping applications, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' experience with food preparation and service.
  • Experience working in a commercial foodservice facility or a degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Experience working in a warehouse, which includes shipping and receiving.
  • Experience labeling, stocking, and rearranging food stock/supplies.
  • Experience with inventory control and reordering of supplies.
  • Experience with merchandising and setting up food displays.
