DEFINITION: Works directly with the Supervisor in the coordination and implementation of the Guided Pathways and Dual Enrollment initiatives project. Provides specialized support to dually enrolled high school students. Serves as a liaison with local high schools to answer questions, organize informational events, recruit and enroll students, and monitor student progress specifically focused on dual enrollment and guided pathways.

Non-academic, non-classified Professional Experts are not part of classified service. Non-academic, non-classified short-term employees are at-will employees and have no entitlement rights to any position in the District. Professional Expert employment shall not result in the displacement of Classified personnel.

*Retired CalPERS Annuitants: may not exceed 960 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30)*

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a temporary, specially funded Professional Expert position to provide support for the Guided Pathways and Dual Enrollment Program. The Professional Expert will serve as a subject matter expert related to Guided Pathways and high school-community college dual enrollment programs. Outstanding communication skills and the ability to collaborate with campus staff and external partners are especially valued. Experience or skills coordinating complex projects across functional areas or teams is critical to success.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serves as subject matter expert related to Guided Pathways and high school-community college dual enrollment programs.
  • Serves as a liaison with local high schools to answer questions, organize informational events, recruit and enroll students, and monitor student progress specifically focused on dual enrollment and guided pathways.
  • Provides feedback to the Project Director, Guided Pathways & Dual Enrollment related to Guided Pathways and Dual Enrollment project status, reporting and expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a social or human services field or education AND
    • At least two years of experience working with student populations, preferably in a high school or community college setting.
    • Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the required qualifications for the position.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a team, as well as being self-motivated.
    • Skilled in using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


    Conditions of Employment



    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position will be OPEN UNTIL FILLED .

    This is a professional expert, 40-hour per week position. The District reserves the right to extend, modify, or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The normal hours of work will be 8:00 am – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, some flexibility such as evenings and weekends will be required to meet the needs of the department. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
    • Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.

    PE Step 22 ($27.00 per hour)
