UW Bothell, Residential Life has an exciting opportunity for a Resident Director of Operations!
As a member of Residential Life, the Resident Director of Operations is a full-time, live-in staff member who will provide daily operations student to the student housing program and will support the education priorities of the department in supporting students. They will be able to assume responsibility for the administrative coordination and management of a housing complex and approximately 175 residents in concern with the goals and priorities of both Housing Operations and Residential Life.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Management:

• Collaborate with the Capstone Management to assess and physically address building, community, and individual student resident needs.
• Manage quarterly facility inspections to assist with monitoring of and proactively addressing/reporting any life safety and facilities issues.
• Oversee the opening and closing procedures of units and buildings according to established process.
• Manage the housing keys; including checking in/out of keys, completing regular key inventory audits, and maintaining needed supply levels.
• Assist with annual building key rotation in collaboration with Housing Operations and Facility Services
• Manage all check in/check out procedures; including Room Condition Reports, Keys/Key Cards, and updating occupancy status in the occupancy management system, StarRez.
• Facilitate and document quarterly fire drills, maintaining student awareness of emergency procedures and coordinating other resident life safety activities pertinent to building safety.
• Prepare and email notifications via Entrata to communicate with residents.
• Generate reports in housing software systems to support occupancy management and assist with data gathering as needed.
• Work order management; including but not limited to ensuring work orders are created and are accurate, coordinating with Capstone Management to review and approve workorders in Entrata, and follow-up on incomplete work orders.
• Coordinate closely with the Capstone Management to ensure that the work done by Community Assistants meets the needs of facilities and operations work.

Supervision of Student Staff:

• Recruit, select, train and supervise Community Assistants (CAs), student staff, to work during the academic year. CAs work at the Front Desk of the Husky Village Community center, support operations work and provide customer service to residents, including handling mail and packages.
• Recruit, select, train and supervise Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs), student staff, during the summer. SCAs provide Residential Life programming and duty coverage for housing, work at the Front Desk of the Husky Village Community center, support conferences over the summer and provide customer service to residents and conference guests.
• Recruit, select, train and supervise Housing Ambassadors, student staff, during the academic year. Ambassadors provide tours and show their unit for incoming students in order to market student housing.

Residential Education and Advising:

• Advise the Residence Hall Association; including selection, training and support.
• Participate in the Residential Curriculum; including staff selection and training, promoting learning and residential education.
• Support the Assistant Director and Resident Director for Residential Education in implementation of the Curriculum as needed.
• Conduct Residential Life Conduct meetings as needed including; using a development and educational model to assist students.
• Support a student advisory council in coordination with Capstone Management.
• Manage the Residential Life Front Desk to ensure that it meets the needs of the Residential Life program; including put not limited to programming and supply management.

Crisis Response and Intervention:

• Participate in an on-duty rotation throughout the calendar year to respond to incidents and emergencies as they occur.
• Understand and implement the University’s protocols for responding to emergencies and crises.
• Appropriately collaborate and consult with other Student Affairs professionals regarding students needing additional support/resources.
• Provide necessary follow-up with students, campus services, and parents as necessary.

Other duties as assigned:

• Support the Division of Student Affairs and Residential Life and Housing Team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited college or university.
• At least one year of recent (within the past 3 years) experience supervising or advising a diverse college-aged student staff or group/club.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Ability to develop administrative systems to accomplish multiple tasks in an efficient manner, set priorities, and work well under pressure of deadlines.• One year of professional experience in college or university student services (graduate internship may apply towards professional experience).
• Demonstrated experience working in a facility service center or equaivalent.
• Demonstrated experience working with traditionally underrepresented groups.
• Demonstrated experience living or working in a college residence hall strongly preferred.
• Diverse knowledge of university student population issues, including diversity, alcohol/drugs, safety and security, and health concerns in a university environment and strategies to positively impact.
• Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of student development and academic success.
• Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• Demonstrated commitment to, and experience successfully advocating for, diversity and the value of diversity are desired.

WORK ENVIORNMENT :

• Live on-campus and work in a multi-story apartment complex.
• Participate in an on-call duty rotation providing coverage 7 days a week, 24-hours a day, including holidays.
• Work extended hours during peak times of the academic year.
• Limit extended vacations to Summer Quarter, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
• Work evening and occasional weekends throughout the year
