The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting in late August 2022, specializing in the psychological and/or behavioral aspects of physical activity and exercise.

URI’s Department of Kinesiology (https://web.uri.edu/kinesiology) has a robust undergraduate program (~600 undergraduate students) and a growing graduate program [~25 Master’s (https://www.uri.edu/programs/program/kinesiology-m-s/) and Ph.D. students (https://web.uri.edu/chs/academics/phd-in-health-sciences/)]. The Department is housed within the College of Health Sciences (https://web.uri.edu/chs), which is a member of the University’s Academic Health Collaborative (https://web.uri.edu/ahc).

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop, lead, and collaborate on lines of research leading to impactful publications and grant submissions in exercise psychology and physical activity behavior change.  This position will have a strong focus on research and securing grant funding to support research and graduate students. The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in the Department of Kinesiology, utilizing innovative pedagogical approaches, and advising, mentoring, and engaging in service. The successful candidate will also demonstrate experience or potential to engage diverse students in all aspects of teaching, research, and service.
