Position Description: The Division of Kinesiology
and Sport Management (KSM) in the School of Education at The
University of South Dakota invites applicants for a tenure track
assistant or associate professor position in Exercise Science
beginning in the fall semester of 2022. This is a nine-month,
tenure-track position with the possibility of summer school
teaching. Responsibilities: The
successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate coursework in KSM (face-to-face, on-line, and other
distance delivery systems), conduct research, serve on University
and School of Education committees, seek grant funding, and publish
regularly in professional journals. Other assignments may be made
based on the professional and academic background of the faculty to
complement the strengths of the Division faculty as well as to
address the diverse needs of students in programs within the
Division of Kinesiology and Sport Management, School of Education,
and university community. Evidence of management and leadership
abilities is preferred. Required
Qualifications: Candidates are required to have a doctoral
degree in Exercise Science or a related field. ABD will be
considered, but the doctorate must be completed by August 21, 2022.
Candidates should demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching or
potential for outstanding teaching at the collegiate/university
level. Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or
ability to teach courses such as exercise physiology, advanced
exercise physiology, and evaluation of research as they apply to
strength and conditioning. Current ACSM or NSCA certification is
also preferred. Starting Date: August

The Division and School: The Division of
Kinesiology and Sport Management (KSM) (https://www.usd.edu/education/kinesiology-and-sport-management)
is one of five divisions in the School of Education (https://www.usd.edu/education)
and offers baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in Exercise
Science and Sport Management. The KSM Division currently has 5
full-time faculty; administrative staff; 2 funded graduate
assistants; over 250 undergraduate majors; and approximately 30
graduate majors. The division is housed in the Sanford Coyote
Sports Center, a $73 million state-of-the-art facility that opened
in 2016.
