The Marketing unit within the Office of Communications at the University of Virginia is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to help our team manage projects, maintain marketing systems, assist in implementing marketing plans, brand management, events, and campaigns.  

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing Coordinator will execute and coordinate various day-to-day marketing responsibilities, assist in managing larger projects, provide hands-on management of systems and process, and support the team in planning and deploying marketing efforts across the larger department. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, have an eye for detail, strong communication and collaboration skills and sincere interest in marketing communications.


  • Maintain, update, and perform day-to-day responsibilities for our brand site (, including overseeing account requests for the brand platform and other needs of the 4,500+ active users.
  • Partner with members of the Marketing, Social, Digital and Creative teams to implement changes and guide the development of the brand site to ensure our content remains current and user experience is strong.
  • Create and oversee annual plan for our pageantry program, ensuring the artwork utilized within our university banner systems and other installations is updated on an appropriate schedule. Work with department and unit partners to develop, produce, and deploy new artwork according to brand guidelines.
  • Author and review creative and strategic briefs with the Marketing Director and internal teams, and participate in project briefing meetings.
  • Develop and implement a lifecycle management system and deployment approach for the  university fleet mark system.
  • Oversee and maintain the inventory management software, Zoho Projects, used to organize marketing projects, media insertions and out-of-home installations.
  • Update and maintain contacts lists of lead communicators and leadership from across the University
  • Provide regular project status reports to leadership within the department including to Marketing Director, AVP Marketing and other leadership as needed.
  • Assist as a member of the Marketing team on engagement events, production installations, and other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Provide support to Marketing Director and AVP Marketing as needed
Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Word required
  • Experience with email marketing or similar helpful
Required Experience:

  • BA in English, Communications, Media, Marketing, or related field
  • At least one year of related experience required, two+ years preferred
Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,000 to $55,000, commensurate with experience
