Durham's Department of Computer Science is rapidly expanding and over the last two years the department has developed, in collaboration with Durham Business School, its premium masters programme in Business Analytics. The programme has a technical but applied focus, and all students work on an individual project working on real data from a partner organisation. Another key part of the programme offering is the Silicon Valley Field Trip which (travel restrictions permitting) takes place in Silicon Valley, hosted by our partners at the University of San Francisco. Students and staff travel to California for a week of intensive study and company visits. Even with its short history our Business Analytics masters is already in the top 50 Business Analytics programmes globally. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in business analytics and/or applied data science and help to develop the programme even further, strengthening its links with industrial practice.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the further development of the department's teaching and curriculum, particularly within the areas of Business Analytics and Data Science. Whilst our Business Analytics programme is for postgraduate students, the post holder would also be expected to contribute to data science teaching within our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio. This includes actively engaging with industry to maintain and develop our industry links. The post also will help to roll out training and teaching into other Durham departments and University-wide initiatives, so the ideal candidate would also have a background in computer science pedagogy.
