The Boston University Questrom School of Business invites applications for the position of Professor of the Practice in Management. Pending Provost budgetary approval, the anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2022. Professor of the Practice appointments are reserved for distinguished practitioners in their profession who seek a transition to teaching or service leadership that advances the University and School.

The Questrom School of Business is looking for thought leaders who can complement our faculty’s excellence in academic research and classroom teaching and help drive the transformation of business education we believe is necessary to remain relevant and competitive in the new economy. We seek individuals with high-level world-class expertise in corporate or marketing strategy and organizational leadership and the desire and ability to translate this experience and perspective into our degree programs, academic initiatives, and executive teaching. Expertise in our sector emphasis areas of digital business, analytics, social impact/sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation, and health is a plus. We expect these individuals to play a leadership role in shaping how we introduce and execute experiential learning and action-based learning initiatives by engaging with companies on real-world problems and developing productive industry relationships that inform “business research that matters” at the School.

We seek distinguished practitioners who can contribute to one or more growth areas at Questrom:

  • Leadership to run action-based learning initiatives with industry partners.
  • Leadership to design novel experiential learning initiatives for Questrom’s core graduate and undergraduate core programs.
  • Leadership to establish industry and alumni relationships in support of careers and strategic initiatives at Questrom. of global partnerships to advance Questrom programs and student learning experiences
  • Leadership of online and hybrid learning initiatives and business models

Prospective candidates should have a record of distinguished achievement in senior roles in management consulting or the corporate world, and a graduate degree (MBA or equivalent at a minimum; PhD desirable).

Salary will be competitive [by University standards] and commensurate with experience.
