Job Description Summary
The History Department at Bentley University, a private business university in suburban Boston, invites applications for a tenure-track positon in American Business and Economic History at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2022. We welcome candidates who specialize in time periods ranging from the early republic to the recent past, and we particularly welcome candidates with expertise in subjects such as slavery as an economic system, the history of women in business, the history of minority-owned businesses, the utilization of minorities and immigrants as workers, the history of unions, and the history of corporations.

As guided by our Academic Affairs Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Strategic Plan, Bentley University seeks to enhance our faculty capacity in the scholarship, pedagogy, and engagement related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. To achieve that, we are hiring a cohort of new faculty in multiple academic departments and disciplines with expertise in DEI. This position is intended to be part of our DEI faculty cohort, which will enrich our DEI expertise across Business and the Liberal Arts & Sciences. Candidates must demonstrate: 1.) evidence of a continuing research agenda focused on publication, and 2.) a strong dedication to excellence in teaching. We prefer candidates with classroom experience, and we welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives to the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. required. (Requirements for your doctoral degree must be confirmed prior to the start of the Fall 2022 semester.)
