General Description

Reporting to the CCAMPIS Project Director, the CCAMPIS Child Care Specialist is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations/services of the grant-funded CCAMPIS program to ensure low-income student-parents greater access to higher education success. Under the direction of the Project Director, the CCAMPIS Child Care Specialist assesses student parent needs; assists with recruiting, selection, and orientation of students to the program and tracking student-parent progress to graduation; and assists in the preparation of required grant reports adhering to federal reporting timelines and criteria.


Specific Responsibilities
  • Assess student parent needs and assist student parents at the College's Main Campus and Regional Centers with finding and enrolling in licensed and accredited childcare programs utilizing the state licensing agency's "care finder" website and maintain contact with childcare providers in the region to track enrollment openings and waiting lists.




  • Under the guidance of the Project Director, promote CCAMPIS via the College's website and social media sites, print publications, direct e-mails, etc.


  • Verify childcare program/provider's licensed and accredited status and student's child care fees, notifying student and provider of determination, and authorizing payment of child care fees to providers.


  • Maintain records of student-parent progress toward degree completion and other records required for grant reporting and preparation of monthly/annual reports to ensure that all related compliance and reporting requirements are met.


  • In conjunction with the Project Director, meet with each CCAMPIS recipient at least once per semester to review their academic, childcare and family situations, and to provide them with resource and referral information to ensure that they engage with College resources.


  • Under the guidance of the Project Director, provide a specialized student-parent orientation each semester to outline program benefits and expectations.


  • Maintain productive communications and working relationships with related on-campus services, departments and off-campus agencies.


  • Develop and maintain an updated list of accredited providers in neighborhoods surrounding the College's Main Campus and the West, Northwest, and Northeast Regional Centers.


  • Negotiate reduced childcare rates on behalf of the student-parents with childcare providers using a sliding scale fee.


  • Maintain contact with providers to monitor children's attendance.


  • Process monthly invoices and monitor the accreditation status of all providers.


  • Maintain list of student success workshops and volunteer opportunities.


  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.


  • Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.


  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the College.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; any and all degrees must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.





  • Three (3) years of related work experience required.



  • Knowledge of NAEYC and Keystone Stars accreditation standards and processes required.



  • Experience working with "at-risk" and culturally diverse populations required.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel required.



  • Demonstrated competency in organizing data, maintaining files, and preparing reports required.



  • Access to reliable transportation required.



  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds required.



  • Exceptional organization and planning skills required.



  • Excellent group facilitation and presentation skills required.



  • Ability to collaborate with others required.



  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive documents and information required.



  • Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social-economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of related work experience preferably in an early childhood/daycare setting.




  • Familiarity with integrated management software such as Banner, Starfish and Engage (Anthology), as well as social media platforms, preferred.


  • Proficiency in managing budgets preferred.
