Towson University (www.towson.edu) was founded in 1866, is recognized by U. S. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
Department of Accounting
Assistant Professor of Accounting
Two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank,
beginning August 2022. Applicants should possess a Ph.D./DBA or
equivalent in accounting, or a Ph.D./DBA in a related area with
professional certification in accounting. ABD applicants will be
considered if all degree requirements are expected to be fulfilled
by February 1, 2023. Applicants should have a record or demonstrate
the potential for a balanced commitment to excellent teaching,
quality research and service. Responsibilities will include
teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, research
leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals, and university
and community service. Faculty assigned an instructional workload
of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year.
Beginning the second year the workload reverts back to the standard
instructional workload of seven to eight (7-8) course units. An
instructional workload of six (6) course units can be continued if
the individual is maintaining qualification as a Scholarly Academic
under the college standards. We are seeking candidates who can
teach auditing and financial accounting at the intermediate and
advanced levels. Candidates with strong backgrounds in data
analytics are also desired. Candidates of all areas of
specialization are still invited to apply. Towson University is the
only University System of Maryland institution to have AACSB
accreditation for both its business and accounting programs. Review

Department of Management
Assistant Professor in Strategy/International
Business/Entrepreneurship
Tenure-track entry-level Assistant Professor position in
Strategy/International Business/Entrepreneurship in the Department
of Management, beginning August 2022. Ph.D. in Strategy,
Entrepreneurship, International Business, or Business
Administration from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABDs with
expected graduation date no later than February 1, 2023, will be
considered. Applicants will need to demonstrate potential for
strong research, excellent teaching, and service aligned with the
college’s expected outcomes of impact, innovation, and engagement.
Faculty member will be assigned a teaching workload of six (6)
courses per academic year in strategy, international business, and
entrepreneurship such as Business Policy & Strategy,
International Entrepreneurship, and Multinational Management.
Faculty member is expected to pursue research leading to refereed
journal publications in the field of management. Faculty member is
expected to engage in service to the department, college,
university, community, and professional associations. The
successful candidate will join a department that is committed to
scholarly productivity, students’ excellence, and innovative and
technology focused experiential teaching. Review of applications

Department of Marketing
Assistant Professors in Marketing
Two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Marketing
beginning in August 2022. A PhD/DBA or equivalent in marketing or a
closely related field from an AACSB-accredited university is
required. ABDs with significant progress will be considered if
completion of the degree is achieved by February 1, 2023.
Applicants will need to demonstrate potential for strong research,
excellent teaching, and service aligned with the college’s expected
outcomes of impact, innovation, and engagement. Candidates must be
sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working with
an ethnically and racially diverse student body. The positions
requires a teaching load of nine credit hours of undergraduate
and/or graduate courses in marketing per semester (6 courses per
year). There are two positions available, one with a teaching focus
in consumer behavior and a second position with a teaching focus in
marketing analytics. Faculty are required to conduct research
leading to refereed journal publications and engage in university,
community, and professional association service. These positions
are contingent on availability of funds at time of hire. Review of

Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
Tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position
beginning in Fall 2022. The position is open field. Ph.D. in
economics is required. Preference will be given to candidates with
a record of excellence in teaching, scholarly achievement, and
demonstrated ability to obtain external funding through grants or
contracts. The expected teaching load is 18 credit hours (6
courses) per year. Preference will be given to candidates who can
teach Intermediate undergraduate Microeconomics or Macroeconomics.

COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS AND COMMUNICATION
Department of Mass Communication
Assistant Professor, Advertising
Tenure track, 10-month Assistant Professor in Advertising in the
Department of Mass Communication, beginning August 2022. Salary
will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ph.D. in
Advertising, Mass Communication, or related fields. ABD applicants
considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank, and all
Doctorate degree requirements must be completed by February 1,
2023. Demonstrated success or potential to teach advertising
courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants
with specialties in legal and ethical issues in advertising, and/or
media and audience analytics are preferred. Demonstrate the
potential to develop a strong body of scholarship. Applicants whose
work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated
commitment to issues of diversity in higher education are
particularly encouraged to apply. Research active faculty teach 6
classes over a 10-month academic year with an undergraduate class
size of average 20 students per class. Undergraduate teaching may
include: Law and Ethics in Advertising and Public Relations,
Advertising Media Audience and Analytics, Media Planning,
Advertising Campaigns, or Principles of Advertising. Graduate
teaching may include: Strategic Communication Law and Ethics,
Social Media and Content Strategy, or Mass Communication Research
Methods. Opportunities might exist to teach other courses depending
on the applicant’s area of specialty and the need of the
department. Expected to advise undergraduate students and supervise
graduate student theses or professional projects. Scholarly
research productivity and service to the department, college, and
university are expected. Experience in AAF (American Advertising
Federation) advising is a plus. The successful candidate must have
the ability to work with a diverse student population and be
sensitive to the educational needs of these students. Review of

Assistant Professor, Journalism and Media
Studies
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in Journalism
and Media Studies, and a Master’s program in Communication
Management in the Department of Mass Communication, beginning
January 2022. Earned Ph.D. in journalism or mass communication.
Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher with full
responsibility for teaching two or more classes in the area of
media analysis and literacy, audio production, multimedia
storytelling techniques, or qualitative research method. A
demonstrated success in research productivity with published
articles in peer-reviewed journals in the field. Professional
journalism experience in audio production is preferred. Applicants
whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated
commitment to issues of diversity in higher education are
particularly encouraged to apply. Faculty assigned an instructional
workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first
year. Beginning the second year, the workload reverts back to the

Department of Kinesiology
Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Athletic
Training
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
position in the Athletic Training Program in the Department of
Kinesiology, beginning August 2022. Research Doctoral degree in a
Kinesiology-related field. ABD applicants considered, but
appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree
requirements must be completed by February 1, 2023. Minimum of five
years of certification and good standing with the Board of
Certification (BOC, Inc) and must hold or be eligible to apply for
Maryland Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the start of the
appointment. Evidence of scholarship agenda focused in an area
related to Kinesiology and/or Athletic Training. Training and
expertise to teach Kinesiology courses in Athletic Training,
Exercise Science, and health and human performance to diverse
learners. Candidates wishing to be considered for the rank of
Associate Professor should have 6 years experience teaching in
higher education or comparable qualifications, and demonstrate a
clear line of scholarship with outcomes. Primary responsibilities
include: 1) TEACHING – research active instructors teach 6 units
over a 10-month academic year in a highly diverse, student-centered
program; provide high quality instruction in a variety of athletic
training and exercise science courses; advise and mentor students
as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the
profession; 2) SCHOLARSHIP – development/continuation of a focused
area of scholarship that includes refereed publications,
professional presentations, external funding, and involvement in
scholarly projects with faculty and students; 3) SERVICE – active
service participation at the Department, College, University,

Department of Family Studies and Community
Development Assistant Professor
Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in
the Department of Family Studies and Community Development,
beginning August 2022. This position is intended to address Towson
University moving toward an R2 status that emphasizes increased
scholarship and grant activity. Doctoral degree in Family Science
or related field [ABD applicants with on-going progress will be
considered, if all degree requirements are complete by February 1,
2023]. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Demonstrated
success or potential to teach Family Science courses at the
undergraduate and graduate level. Demonstrated potential to develop
a strong body of scholarship including the potential to secure
external funding. Demonstrated service to community, university,
and/or field. Faculty will be assigned an instructional workload
that includes a range of undergraduate courses. Undergraduate
advising is part of teaching responsibilities. Scholarly research
productivity, including the securing of external grants, and
service to the department, college, and university are expected.

Department of Geography & Environmental
Planning
Assistant Professor of Climatology
Tenure-Tenure track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in
Climatology starting in August 2022. Ph.D. in geography. Ph.D. in
cognate field will be considered. ABD applicants considered, but
appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree
requirements must be completed by February 2023. Candidates should
have expertise in climatology, weather, and physical geography;
they should have strong quantitative and geospatial capabilities.
Specialization in urban climatology is encouraged. Candidates
should feel comfortable teaching undergraduate classes in physical
geography, climate change and society, meteorology, climatology,
applied climatology, and quantitative methods. Towson University
places a high priority on the importance of diversity, equity, and
inclusion and candidates must be sensitive to the needs of, and
possess an interest in working with, a diverse student body.
Experience with innovative teaching or the potential to engage
undergraduate and graduate students in critical and dynamic ways
are highly desirable. Teaching responsibilities include
undergraduate introductory courses and other existing or newly
developed undergraduate and/or graduate courses that align with
faculty area(s) of expertise. Research responsibilities include
maintaining a record of scholarly research and publication. The
University is striving to achieve Carnegie’s R2 status and thus
prioritizes grant funded research. Other responsibilities include
advising students in major and minor programs and service to the
Department, College and Institution. Opportunities exist for
contributing to other academic programs, including, but not limited
