Tenure-Track Position, Audio
Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute
New York University Arts and Science

The Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with a focus on podcasting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Institute seeks an accomplished, audio journalist/podcaster with a distinguished and innovative body of work. The Institute works with both graduate and undergraduate students, so teaching experience is desirable. The person hired will teach in, and run, the Institute’s new Podcasting and Audio Reportage graduate program, which will train students to report, edit, mix, and create highly produced nonfiction audio. The Institute is particularly interested in candidates who have experience in a variety of editorial positions, have management or administrative experience, and have a strong track record of commitment to equity and inclusion. Because this is a tenure track position, a candidate should have substantive projects in development and/or progress.

The position start date is September 1, 2022 (pending administrative and budgetary approval). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For best consideration, materials should be submitted by no later than January 3, 2022.

Please apply online with a cover letter to the search committee that describes your research and teaching interests, your thoughts on the future of nonfiction audio, a resume or curriculum vitae, and samples of your work. Diversity is an important part of the NYU mission and we ask that you address how diversity and inclusion factor into past and present creative work, teaching, and/or community engagement, as well as how you would bring issues of diversity to bear on teaching and programming at NYU.
