Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving manages, directs, and executes the appeal methodologies for the entire annual giving program. The assistant director oversees two professional staff members and reports to the Director of Annual Giving.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Identify, evaluate the value, conceptualize the use, and direct the implementation of all new and existing media, focusing specifically on the induction of innovative outreach vehicles.
  • Devise annual fund messaging and write all mass solicitations.
  • Oversee the production of all mass solicitations.
  • In concert with communications, develop visual aspects of the solicitation program.
  • Develop the office's outreach calendar and ensure its execution.
  • Manage the onboarding of all new and emerging media, including the online giving platforms.
  • Coordinate the many facets of the annual online giving day, including relationships with university partners, outside vendors, and divisional colleagues.
  • Using existing solicitation methods and the induction of new resources for the office, design mass solicitation strategies specific to constituents that drive the alumni donor count, including:
  • Millennials, alumni inside 10th reunion, and senior class gift pledge fulfillment
  • LYBUNTs, retention of consecutive donors, and retention of new donors
  • Create and execute, in concert with donor relations, an impactful stewardship program for the Puget Sound Fund.
  • Elevate the visibility of Puget Sound Fund donors, specifically leadership-level donors and young alumni.
  • Oversee the office's acknowledgment efforts.
  • Design and deliver reports on the success of each individual mass solicitation effort as it supports the overall annual giving strategy.
  • Coordinate and execute all restricted-expendable fundraising initiatives like the Logger Club fundraising program, achieving pre-set goals.
  • Oversee the management of the department's budget, the office's annual database audit and roll program, production of all Millennium-based reports, and the inventories and physical records for the office and its programs.
  • Coordinate the administrative support duties of the annual giving office manager and assistant.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director of annual giving.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position oversees two professional staff members and members of the student staff.

    Budget Responsibilities: This position is charged with managing the Office of Annual Giving Budget but reports to the director on all budgeting matters.

    Qualifications:
    • Well-developed technical aptitude with proven experience in online fundraising
    • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and project management skills
    • Attention to detail
    • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
    • Experience with drafting, editing, and producing multiple direct mail solicitations
    • The ability to work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents including alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends of the college
    • Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills
    • The ability to work independently, solve problems, handle confidential information and navigate sensitive situations
    • Adept knowledge of computers and computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as constituent relations software such as Sage Millennium
    • A bachelor's degree
    • Experience in student phonathon management and online fundraising tools preferred
    • Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
