Graduation & Commencement Coordinator

Position Summary:
This position provides oversight of graduation and commencement services; and communicates with students, faculty, staff, and external parties on questions regarding the awarding of degrees, commencement, and academic regulations. This position partners with the President's Office and University Support Services in the planning and coordination of the commencement ceremonies and oversees the budgets to provide a signature event for the university within budget. This position also verifies, maintains, and processes graduation applications to ensure compliance with state and university requirements and policies and is responsible for the accurate posting of academic credentials. This position manages and reviews graduation business processes and provides input for technology improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs
• Experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues
• Experience researching a variety of sources to collect and compile information
• Experience coordinating complex events

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working in an Office of the Registrar or in a postsecondary environment
• Experience with Ellucian Banner SIS
• Familiarity with FERPA and University of Idaho academic policies and procedures
• Experience planning and executing large events for a wide variety of constituents
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures
• Ability to handle sensitive information in discreet and professional manner
• Knowledge of UI academic rules and regulations for undergraduate level advising and curriculum
• Ability to work in a repetitive, detail-oriented environment
• Experience working with automated student record systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills while working under pressure with individuals of varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability to understand and explain complex concepts to others in a clear manner
