What you will do:

You'll oversee classroom operations including coordinating staff, guiding teaching assistants and student staff, curriculum planning and implementation. You will interact with children of varying ages and diverse backgrounds in small groups and individually all while providing a nurturing environment.

You'll work with a group of colleagues and as part of a team of early childhood educators that values teamwork, diversity, providing nurturing care.

You need ONE of the following requirements to qualify (minimum qualification):
  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a recognized program; OR A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; AND one year of experience in a certified day care center or comparable group care program
  • Two years of experience, including at least one year as a teacher, in a certified day care center or comparable group child care program

To be successful in this position you will have (professional competencies)
  • The ability to communicate effectively with parents, children and staff from diverse backgrounds.

The ideal candidate also has (preferred qualifications):
  • At least three years of experience supervising or leading the work of other staff members
  • Experience using child development assessment tools and reporting results

The Erb Memorial Union a department within Student Life provides an array of services and programs to help students benefit fully from their educational programs and to help the University carry out its mission of research, teaching, and service. More about the position:

Typical schedules for these positions are M-F within the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm. Occasionally teachers work evening and weekend hours.
