$44,595 per year or higher depending on
Conducts entomological experiments in the field, greenhouse, and
laboratory that are focused on biology, behavior, ecology, and
management of insect pests of potato and sugar beet and their
arthropod natural enemies; collects data, analyzes with statistical
software, and interprets; prepares reports, presentations, and
publications. Expected to provide quality support to the
entomological research and extension program, completing tasks in
an efficient and timely manner, working under general supervision
with a certain degree of creativity and latitude. May supervise
junior research personnel.
·Bachelor of Science degree in entomology, nematology, plant
pathology, or a related field. ·Two years of post-bachelor’s
research experience in entomology or a related field.
·MS degree in Entomology or closely related field.
·Experience in identification of insects to species.
·Experience in experimental design and analysis of scientific data
using SAS or R.
·Making insecticide applications to field plots.
·Experience with molecular tools such as PCR and ELISA.
·Publishing in peer-refereed journals.
·Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, and to
maintain clear, detailed records.
·Ability to work alone and cooperatively in an effective and
efficient manner with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
·Must be able to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move heavy materials
weighing up to 60 pounds.
