Alumni Relations Officer, Lead

New Mexico State University (NMSU), New Mexico’s flagship
land-grant and space-grant institution, and the NMSU Foundation
seek a highly-collaborative, thoughtful, and entrepreneurial
professional to serve as Alumni Relations Officer, Lead. The Alumni
Relations Officer will join a dedicated advancement team,
contributing to the Foundation’s growth, and will play a critical
role in identifying opportunities to support NMSU community impact,
especially for students and faculty. The Alumni Relations Officer
will lead in the development, coordination, and evaluation of
programs and projects to promote alumni relations and educational

For the NMSU community, private philanthropic support is vital
to increased accessibility. The recently-completed Ignite Aggie
Discovery Campaign, the largest in the university’s history, raised

discovery, faculty and staff discovery, and NMSU achievement. Of
the total, $39 million was dedicated for student support, and $56
million was raised for programmatic and research support. With an
endowment of over $230 million, NMSU and the NMSU Foundation have a

Roles & Responsibilities
- Leads in the development, coordination, and evaluation of
programs and projects to promote alumni relations and educational
programs such as Career Mentorship Program, Alumni Student
Recruitment, and Student Alumni Association Organization.
- Plans, coordinates, and attends special events, including
alumni and volunteer recognition banquets, receptions, homecoming,
- Identifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni donors and
- Coordinates and produces special reports, proposals, and
analyses for management, to include various community and/or
business meetings, committees, and task forces.
- Promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
- May develop, sustain, and strengthen alumni chapters
nationwide; may advise student leadership in development
- May develop and present educational programs for alumni,
including lectures, seminars, and workshops.
- Coordinates and trains volunteers who work on events, projects
- Serves on committees relating to Alumni Relations, and serves
as liaison between NMSU and the community
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

qualification and attributes:
- Knowledge of data management techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
in a diverse community.
- Ability to plan and implement promotional programs.
- Ability to design and write promotional material.
- Ability to develop alumni chapters.
- Ability to develop, prepare, and deliver effective educational
programs, seminars and workshops relating to Alumni Relations.
- Ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers.
