The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Management Science and Statistics Tenure-Track Positions in Artificial Intelligence and Statistics and Modeling and Big Data at the rank of Assistant Professor

The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Management Science and Statistics invites applicants for two tenure-track assistant professor positions: one in Artificial Intelligence and Statistics, and one in Modeling and Big Data beginning Fall 2022.

These positions will support the department's need by supporting numerous college-wide and university programs in the analytics area - such as MS Data Analytics, and MS Artificial Intelligence. These positions align with both department and college goals to support multidisciplinary programming and collaboration with the School of Data Science. The department's own degree programs in Statistics & Data Science, along with the new BBA Business Analytics degree program are in need of faculty with strong statistical/analytics training.

We encourage applicants with an earned (or expected by the fall semester of 2022) Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a closely related area from an accredited university with strong potential for engaging in high-quality research in statistical learning and statistical modeling for Big Data problems to publish in high-quality journals to apply. We are particularly seeking applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: statistical computation, Bayesian learning and probabilistic reasoning, deep learning, and predictive modeling for the Artificial Intelligence and Statistics position; and multilevel or hierarchical modeling, causal inference, high-dimensional inference, dimension reduction, cloud-based scalable and distributed inference, and robust inference for the Modeling and Big Data position. Preferences will be given to the applicants with experiences and good potential for getting external funding for research projects; and those with strong interests in interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers from other departments within the college (e.g., Marketing, Information Systems and Cyber Securities, etc.), departments from other colleges (e.g., Public Health, Science, Engineering, etc.), and other universities (such as UT Health Science at San Antonio).
