Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Physics at Le Moyne College, located in Syracuse, New York, invites applications from qualified candidates for the full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2022. The Assistant Professor position carries a 3-3 teaching load comprised of undergraduate Physics courses. In this position, the Assistant Professor will also be required to actively involve undergraduate students in his/her research and provide academic advisement to Physics majors.  The successful candidate will be expected to engage in internal and external College service activities. 

Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics.  Qualified candidates must be experimentalists within the field of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMO) or a closely related field.  In addition, qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at all levels, maintain an active record of research/scholarly activity within the field of study and be able to involve undergraduate students in scholarly research activity.  Qualified candidates must have familiarity with pedagogical practices informed by Physics education research.  Finally, qualified applicants who have an interest and willingness to create interdisciplinary connections with other Le Moyne College science departments are particularly encouraged to apply.
