The Ethnic Studies Program at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies, specializing in Native American and Indigenous Studies. The Ethnic Studies Program trains students in comparative Ethnic Studies. Students learn to think about race historically, relationally and intersectionally.

We seek a comparative Native American and Indigenous Studies scholar who can situate settler colonialism, native sovereignty, and land rights in different geographic and national contexts. We especially welcome additional expertise in the following fields to help us expand our course offerings based on our students’ interests: arts and artivism, disability studies, environmental racism, food ways, health disparities/public health, Indigenous Pacifics/Oceania, history of science.

The faculty member will be expected to conduct research and teach courses in Native American and Indigenous Studies. In addition to developing new Native American and Indigenous Studies courses, the faculty member will be expected to teach American Indian Cultural Images and History of the American Indian. The faculty member will also be expected to serve as the advisor for the undergraduate American Indian Studies certificate. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position located at the Denver Campus.
