Assistant Professor of Cinema-Television
Position Number 006028

The Division of Cinema/Television is seeking candidates to join a creative and productive faculty and student body located in one of the leading media markets in the nation. We are looking for a top-notch production colleague who will take an active role in expanding and strengthening a growing department. The ideal candidate is one who will reach a new generation of storytellers in a convergent media landscape and has the skills that would lead to success in our classrooms. Teaching can include introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in areas such as single and/or multi-camera production, editing, screenwriting, directing, as well as specialized courses in the candidate's particular area(s) of expertise.

Minimum qualifications: MFA or PhD is required, along with previous teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in techniques such as production, new media and mobile production, editing, animation, directing and screenwriting, special effects, production design and programming & scripting. The tenure-track position is funded with a start date in August 2010

The Division of Cinema-Television guides its 75 undergraduate majors and 12 graduate students through the practical and the conceptual aspects of film and video and encourages interdisciplinary connections to related fields. The Division plays an active role in the annual Dallas International Film Festival and is home to the G. William Jones Film Collection Archive. Our faculty includes a uniquely-talented group of writers, scholars, and award-winning film and video makers.
