Position Summary: The Department of English at Gettysburg College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Environmental Humanities focused on literature, beginning August 2022. Preferred candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach courses that will complement the department’s offerings across historical periods and national traditions, building upon the department’s currently strong offerings in American literature of the 20th century. Candidates will be expected to teach six courses in the 2022-2023 year, which will include courses in their specialty and first-year writing.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in English or comparable field by time of appointment is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong research agenda, be committed to the teaching of undergraduates, and contribute to the diversity of our curriculum and/or community.
