The position of Library Innovation Lab Manager is a full-time administrative (exempt) staff position. Under the supervision of the Library Dean, this position is responsible for managing the Library’s Innovation Lab, as well as helping to maintain hardware and software in other areas of the library. Ideal position for the person with innovative ideas about using learning technologies to engage students and encourage learning.  The Innovation Lab Manager will be expected to research, implement, and support emerging technologies that will enhance the university learning environment.  The successful candidate is someone who wants to work collaboratively with a small team of librarians and staff in a place where she/he can make a difference.  

 

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED SKILLS

The qualified application must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have a thorough understanding of computer hardware and software and be capable of adapting to changing software and technology needs. The abilities to self-direct, work independently, problem-solve, and engage in future planning are essential.  Good oral and written communication skills are expected. Experience with libraries or Makerspaces; 3D printing and 3D scanning; virtual and extended reality equipment; and the ContentDM platform is preferred.  See: https://www2.stetson.edu/library/innovation-lab/ for the range of equipment and hardware that is currently supported by the Lab Manager.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the library’s Innovation Lab
  • In consultation with the Library Dean, plans strategically for the maintenance, growth, and future direction of the Innovation Lab
  • Develops an annual budget for the Innovation Lab
  • Ensure that the equipment, hardware, and software in the Innovation Lab is operated and maintained effectively
  • Works effectively with students, faculty, and staff on Innovation Lab projects
  • Directly supports the School of Business Administration’s Entrepreneurship program, primarily focusing on prototyping and instruction on using Lab equipment
  • Develops and provides workshops pertaining to Lab equipment and services
  • Gives classroom presentations on the Innovation Lab at the invitation of faculty
  • Serves as liaison with campus Information Technology personnel with hardware, software, and networking issues relating to the Lab or other areas of the library
  • Maintains the ContentDM (Digital Archives) software, and work with the Library Dean and the Archives Specialist to create collections, add, edit, and maintain digital content to support the University Archives.  Develops custom user interfaces for ContentDM collections and liaison with OCLC on ContentDM support issues.

ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Innovation Lab Users
  • Responds to routine problems encountered by users of Lab equipment
  • Maintains documentation on all Lab equipment
  • Regularly updates the Innovation Lab website
  • Creates online tutorials in the use of Lab equipment
  • Supervises student assistants assigned to the Innovation Lab
  • Serve on the Library Systems Team and other committees as assigned
  • Performs other position-specific duties as assigned
