Job Summary

The Department of Art at Elmhurst University in the greater Chicago area experienced adjunct faculty to teach Graphic Design courses in the Spring 2021 semester. Spring 2021 semester begins February 3rd, 2021 and concludes May 23rd, 2021.

Essential Functions

Adjunct faculty will teach one or more graphic and interactive design courses at 100-level and above. The successful candidate will have professional experience in graphic and UX/UI design and be knowledgeable of emerging technologies and trends.

Available courses include Introduction to Graphic Design, Typography Studio, UX/UI Design, Portfolio as well as Senior Capstone. Course delivery will be online-synchronous utilizing BlackBoard LMS .

Responsibilities include course preparation, teaching, grading, and being available to students who have questions or require assistance.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate should possess the academic credentials and professional experience necessary to teach courses in graphic design.
• Master’s degree in graphic design, communication design, interactive design or equivalent (or expected by Spring 2020).
• Minimum of one-year college-level teaching experience
• Evidence of professional experience in graphic design (print) and UX/UI design
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud software specifically: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and XD
• Online Synchronous Teaching Experience
• Willingness and ability to teach online synchronous modality using Blackboard
