Job Summary

The Occupational Therapy Program at Elmhurst University is seeking a full-time, twelve-month tenure-track assistant professor to teach and advise occupational therapy graduate students, beginning August 2021.

A core faculty member at Elmhurst University provides engaging clinically-focused learning opportunities for occupational therapy students, through face-to-face, and blended course delivery. The Master of Occupational Therapy program at Elmhurst University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education ( ACOTE ). The occupational therapy program is located in a newer building on campus that includes newly renovated laboratory and clinical teaching spaces. In addition, the program is building strategic relationships with the College’s department of Nursing, including access to the 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art Elmhurst University Simulation Center located at nearby, newly constructed Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. In 2020, three of Elmhurst University’s graduate programs in health care ranked among the best in Illinois and the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best Graduate Schools list. The University’s programs in nursing, occupational therapy, and communication sciences and disorders were recognized, and all three graduate programs also ranked in the top eight in Illinois.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have the following: research or post-professional doctorate (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD, DHS, or OTD ); experience in occupational therapy practice for 5 years or more (preferably with an expertise in the area of physical disabilities) and eligibility for an OT license in Illinois; current NBCOT certification; 3 years academic teaching experience; and teaching and research experience in an area relevant to OT practice.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
