Job Description:

This is a intermediate level role that under general supervision, works closely with customers, business analysts and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design to develop quality technical webservice solutions. Candidates should have a solid understanding of IT systems, development lifecycle, quality assurance/testing, and integration methodologies.

Projects & Enhancement Development : Involved in the full systems life cycle and will assist with designing, coding, testing, implementing, quality assurance, maintaining and supporting software that is delivered on time and within budget. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Analyzes requirements and performs enhancements to existing software; develops new software; develops design options, identifies and analyzes problems, author’s code, tests and debugs code, troubleshoots software, maintains installed systems, produces and maintains documentation and programs, and conducts quality assurance.

Technical Design/Solutioning: Assesses design options and designs technical requirements for software. Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Formulates technical solutions for new IT applications and enhancements to existing applications. Assists with recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse/enhancement of existing.

Support: Develop technical documentation (designs, specifications, systems processes) and communications. Provide technical mentoring for less experienced developers as needed.

Standards: Develops best practices for development and execution of web systems across the organization. Fosters the use of standards within the organization.

Expected Salary:

$68,000 – $75,000; commensurate based on education and experience. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package. https://benefits.hr.ufl.edu/

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree and one year of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:
  • Proficiency in multiple software development languages (Python, JavaScript, C# preferred)
  • Experience developing scalable web services
  • SOA, ESB, messaging, transformation engines, web services, data integration techniques and design patterns
  • Developing software interfaces between systems using protocols such as XML, REST, SOAP, HTTP, SSL, FTP, MQ
  • Working with database systems such as Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server
