The Department of Statistics and Department of Physician Assistant at Western Michigan University seek candidates for a terminal, 1.0 FTE (0.80 Statistics, 0.20 Physician Assistant), academic year, Faculty Specialist I position beginning January 1, 2022 on its main campus.

 

We seek a Faculty Specialist to coordinate a multi-section introductory course in the Department of Statistics, teaching two sections per semester (in the classroom and online), and supervising graduate teaching assistants teaching the remaining sections. Additional duties will include teaching one undergraduate course in Pathophysiology for the Health Professional in the Department of Physician Assistant in fall and spring.

 

The position requires a master’s or doctoral degree in a discipline that is relevant to the Physician Assistant program and the Statistics program, with at least a graduate certificate in statistics.  The successful candidate should also have a minimum of one year of experience teaching multi-section introductory statistics and pathophysiology courses, supervising/coordinating teaching assistants, and a demonstrated strong commitment to supporting the success of students from underrepresented groups.

 

The Department of Statistics offers a PhD in Statistics; MS degrees in Statistics and Data Science (in coordination with the Department of Computer Science); undergraduate majors in Statistics and Data Science; and minors in Data Analysis, Data Science and Statistics. In addition, the Statistics department offers graduate certificates in Applied Statistics and in Biostatistics.  The Department of Physician Assistant offers a MS in Medicine: Physician Assistant.
