The Executive Director reports to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement, and is a critical member of the Development and Alumni Engagement leadership team. Overseeing the Alumni & Parent Engagement activities and Sustainable Giving, the Executive Director is responsible for creating impactful programming and opportunities for alumni to learn, volunteer, financially support and connect; managing communications and outreach efforts; strengthening a culture of engagement and philanthropy among alumni, parents, friends and students, and implementing a sustainable giving program for all of Stetson’s constituents.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible leadership and fundraising experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team with a wide variety of university constituencies
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and the expression of these values in building community
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentors, trains, supervises and evaluates staff
  • Leads, develops and inspires team members in planning and implementing short- and long-term strategies to enhance the engagement of constituencies through volunteerism, philanthropy, communication, and participation in meaningful experiences
  • Works with Development/Alumni leadership to set strategic direction, vision and metrics for the department
  • Develops a Sustainable Giving program, assisting with mass solicitation efforts with alumni and parents, including volunteers who assist with peer-based fundraising campaigns
  • Manages the Alumni Association Board, keeping members engaged and recruiting new volunteers for various programs and initiatives
  • Develops and oversees regional programs and chapters, uniting the Stetson community across geography and the generations in support of Stetson and their fellow alumni
  • Develops meaningful, beneficial and creative programming that strengthens student, alumni, parent and donor relationships with the University and each other
  • Sets direction and provides guidance for event programming (including Homecoming and Leadership Stetson as well as virtual engagement opportunities), affinity programs, career and mentoring, young alumni, student and alumni crowdfunding campaigns, and parent engagement
  • Oversee the Green, White & YOU student engagement and philanthropy organization
  • Ensures alumni events are strategically designed and well-attended, showcasing the strengths and needs of the university and its constituents, to encourage continued involvement
  • Works with colleagues and University Marketing to utilize effective communication vehicles, including the magazine, website and social media
  • Surveys constituents to determine the needs within the alumni population, and develop programming and related outreach and communications to keep them engaged and giving
  • Oversees revenue production through event and magazine sponsorships and similar initiatives
  • Establishes effective partnerships on and off campus, collaborating with key areas such as Admissions, Athletics, Academic Affairs and Career and Professional Development and the College of Law.
