Position Details
The Wesleyan Library’s Discovery & Access department coordinates the lifecycle of library resources, from the point of acquisition through discovery. The department manages the library’s general access collection of 1 million+ physical volumes and 2 million+ electronic resources, regularly engaging with units from across the library to build and evaluate collections.

Reporting to Electronic & Continuing Resources Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting in the management of both print and online continuing resources, overseeing the work of student staff, and engaging in data reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain electronic resource management records; and manage batch editing and loading of bibliographic records from external sources.

  • Assist in the management of electronic resources by collaborating with multiple database providers, vendors, and publishers to enable access, resolve problems, manage technical changes, and maintain access links in library systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electronic resource issues, and communicate resolutions of problem issues to patrons.

  • Compile and manage usage statistics and prepare analytical reports.

  • Regularly review and update working procedures, and documents changes to work procedures as needed.

  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees.

  • Manage the receipt, claiming, and bibliographic maintenance of continuing resources.

  • Supervise the commercial binding processes for journals and monographs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree and 6 years of experience in libraries or a related field(s), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Strong analytical and technology skills, and the ability to learn new software applications. Familiarity with database applications. Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software using calculations, formulas, filters, sorting, and formats. Ability to understand and apply documentation from a variety of sources, and to contribute to in-house documentation. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative, team environment and independently. Effective communication skills, ability to communicate processes to others. Familiarity with library processes and terminology. Experience and aptitude for problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with electronic resources and electronic resource management systems. Experience conducting library cataloging.
