We are seeking a highly motivated and organized manager in the laboratory of Dr. Lauri Nurminen at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Our laboratory studies the neural mechanisms that underlie visual perception. We focus on the visual cortex and seek to understand the roles of feedforward and feedback processes in perception. To advance our research, we use state-of-the-art electrophysiological, optogenetic, and imaging methods in marmosets.

The laboratory manager will have a unique opportunity to work for the advancement of human knowledge. The responsibilities include assisting in surgeries, animal training, assisting in experiments, overseeing regulatory compliance, maintaining data and records, analyzing data, managing inventory, and purchasing. One of the most important duties of the laboratory manager is to help establish, and enforce, inclusive and professional workplace culture.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Laboratory Animal Science, Psychology, Biology, Computer Science, Physics, Optometry, or related field.
  • Previous experience in laboratory work is preferred, but training will be provided as needed.
  • Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
