About the Position:

Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion is committed to the mission of meeting the needs of a multi-cultural, diverse campus community. The department of Academic Human Resources is seeking an exceptional individual to join the team as an Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Non-Exempt. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision, this position serves primarily as individual contributor providing day-to-day campus lead responsibilities for processing temporary academic employee appointments (Unit 3 and Unit 11) in compliance with employment regulations, collective bargaining agreements, CSU policies, and campus policies and practices. Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties requiring knowledge of methods and procedures, such as assessing impact of business process and technology changes and providing related training and informational documentation to campus users at department and college levels. Serves as lead for training and assigning and monitoring work for Academic Human Resource Services administrative support staff. Assignments regularly require the independent judgment to make decisions, interpret, and apply a wide range of policies and procedures related to academic human resources. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with academic human resources appointments, appointment business processes, and appointment technology. Knowledge of CSU executive orders and policies, Unit 3 and Unit 11 Collective Bargaining Agreements, and campus policies. Knowledge of Unit 3 CBA provisions related to appointments, entitlements, Order of Assignment, and Additional Employment. Experience providing training and informational tools on technology systems and business processes. Detail oriented and high level of accuracy in work produced. Experience with assessing and implementing business process improvements for better compliance and customer experience, and with managing related changes effectively. Ability to effectively assign work, ensure accurate and timely completion, and develop support staff appropriately. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, and ability to work collaboratively inside and outside the unit. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent priorities, timelines, and responsibilities.
