Position Summary:
The Information Desk Attendant will provide high level customer service for students, staff and visitors. This position is responsible for mail distribution, issuing building access, and helping residents with a wide variety of questions and concerns. Since Information Desk Attendant duties involve federal mail, confidential information, and building security, it is important that procedures are followed and tasks are completed with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

The Information Desk Attendant will uphold ethical standards by:
• Upholding and adhering to all policies related to Housing & Residence Life, and the Dining Agreement, the Residence Hall handbook, and Student Code of Conduct.
• Respecting and maintaining confidentiality of staff and students and reporting concerns to the Resident Services Manager.
• Acting as a role model for staff and students and being a positive representative of the Housing & Residence Life team in all components of the University and community.

Housing & Residence Life is an auxiliary enterprise and is funded solely by customers who use our services - we receive no State or General fund allocation. Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Idaho.

· Two or more years of work experience that includes customer service.



Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience living in a residence hall

· Demonstrated ability to:

o Provide quality customer service

o Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

o Solve problems and troubleshoot a variety of issues

o Accurately complete tasks with high attention to detail

o Use computer systems to store and organize information

o Explain complex policies and procedures

o Follow written instructions

o Work under pressure in a high volume environment

· Work experience including:

o Locking and unlocking buildings

o Handling mail

o Completing basic office tasks

o Handling confidential information

· Knowledge of:

o Windows Operating System

o Microsoft Office Applications



Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
· Physical ability to:

o Lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 pounds

o Stand and move for long periods of time to process mail

o Bend and stoop

o Walk and/or move for extended periods of time inside and outside and in inclement weather.
