The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position starting Fall of 2022. Suitable applicants must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the research areas of criminal justice and criminology. The areas of specialization are open, but the program is interested in applicants with strengths in the areas of criminal justice, criminology, and crime scene forensics. The Department offers bachelors’ degrees in three disciplines Criminal Justice, Criminology and Forensics Criminology. Candidates must possess teaching experience and a strong willingness to advise and work closely with students.  A Ph.D. in criminal justice or criminology is preferred and proven research potential in these fields is a bonus. An ABD with expected degree completion date within twelve months of the start of the position will be considered. Teaching duties will include four courses per semester.  The candidate will likely be expected to teach introductory courses in criminology and/or criminal justice, research methods in criminal justice and criminology, legal studies, and introductory statistics. They may also be asked to teach courses involving crime scene forensics and/or advise students majoring in criminology with an emphasis on forensic science.
