About the Position:
The Veterans Resource Center at California State University, Fullerton provides comprehensive services to military-connected students that support personal, academic, and professional success. We continuously engage with our students to meet them wherever they are and to guide them along their path toward success. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Wellness Coordinator (Student Services Professional II-Range A). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the guidance of the Director of the CSUF Veterans Resource Center, the Wellness Coordinator will oversee the Titan Warrior Wellness (TWW) program, which provides military-connected students with individual and group support, wellness-related activities, and interactive workshops to encourage positive health and well-being. The VRC at CSUF considers military-connected students to be active duty, national/state guard, reservists, prior service (veterans), and/or military family members (spouses/children). TWW a research-based, comprehensive program that focuses on military-connected students' strengths while providing personal growth opportunities in 10 domains of wellness. The program was developed to address the prevailing stigma connected to wellness, engage students in the pursuit of their personal wellness goals, and highlight the comprehensive nature of the work at the VRC. The Wellness Coordinator acts as a liaison between other health and wellness related offices/programs on campus including, but not limited to, the Wellness Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Disability Services Center (DSS), and the Health Center. In addition, the VRC Wellness Coordinator will assist with the development, planning, and implementation of wellness-related services, activities, workshops, programs, and/or events on campus and in the community. This position will participate in local, regional, state, and/or national organizations/associations related to veteran services and/or health/wellness. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of progressively responsible experience in health & wellness services. Experience working with the military-connected community, including active duty, national/state guard, prior service members (veterans), and military families (spouses/children). Peer Support Specialist or Personal Coaching training/certification.

Experience with military-connected case management in mental health, substance abuse, housing, and/or financial literacy. General knowledge of non-education state and federal benefits for veterans including, but not limited to, disability, compensation and pension, and/or health care. Proven competency with program development, event planning, marketing/promotions, customer service, and/or community engagement. Ability to establish and maintain accurate records and to organize work and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems to include Outlook, Word, Excel. Experience developing, planning, overseeing events and programs of various scales including, but not limited to, small workshops to large conferences. Experience advising undergraduate students. Excellent communication, presentation, teamwork, and organizational skills.
