Position Summary:

Reporting to the Client Support Manager, the Endpoint Lifecycle Administrator administers and supports the lifecycle of computers on campus with a strong emphasis on attention to detail, organization, efficiency, and process. This position is primarily responsible creating and maintaining an organized and efficient method for configuration of endpoint computing devices, ensuring the security and maintenance of endpoints, and maintaining the university's computer replacement cycle and hardware inventory. The successful Endpoint Lifecycle Administrator is creative, flexible, and a strong innovator, capable of working with and organizing complex projects that cross departmental and operational boundaries.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Order, receive, and configure workstations that meet the needs of the campus community.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of 1500+ campus workstations, including their status on a replacement cycle.
  • Create, regularly update, and produce documentation for workstation software images that meet the various needs of the campus community and Technology Services.
  • Ensure that updates to operating system, software, and antivirus software are regularly deployed to workstations in a reliable and efficient manner.
  • Maintain, update, and ensure that image deployment and software provisioning tools are meeting the needs of the Client Support team and Technology Services.
  • Plan, design, implement, and document expansions or revisions to the campus imaging and software provisioning systems as necessary.
  • Directly interact with members of the campus community as their workstation becomes due for replacement, and tactfully advise, assist and negotiate with individuals in the planning and selection of their new workstation.
  • Proactively explore and test new operating systems, hardware, software, and provisioning and deployment tools and methods, to see if they can significantly and reliably improve on existing systems and configurations.
  • Collaborate with the Client Support team, other Technology Services staff, and members of the campus community to create and provide new solutions and service offerings.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in work performed, recordkeeping, documentation, and communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to individuals with varying levels of technology expertise and the ability to write in a professional business style, as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of current Windows and Macintosh operating systems
  • Excellent customer service orientation and ability to work as a flexible, collaborative, and supportive team member in a fast-paced service environment
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of vendors and service providers
  • Experience with a ticketing system for request assignment, tracking, escalation and reporting
  • Passion for constant improvement, technical curiosity, including the ability to learn independently
  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years in a technology-related role that involved technology support, computer lifecycle management, and enterprise endpoint configuration administration
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the following support areas:
  • Desktop system configuration and provisioning
  • Image deployment and software provisioning tools
  • Macintosh and Windows computers and operating systems
  • Application software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Web browsers, such as Firefox, IE/Edge, Safari, and Chrome
  • Computer peripherals, including printers, CD and DVD drives, other external drives
  • Computer networks, including wireless connectivity and VPN
  • Virus protection and malware removal applications
  • Experience with managing enterprise endpoint security
  • Experience with tracking and managing large (500+) endpoint computer inventory control
  • Ability to envision and implement applications supporting endpoint computer configuration
