Detailed Job Description
The Saunders College of Business invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Finance, at the Assistant or Associate level. Candidate must hold a Ph.D. (ABD) in Finance or related field. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate finance courses and publishing high-quality scholarly research. We offer an undergraduate major and a graduate program, and we are in the process of launching a Ph.D. program. We seek talented individuals to support these programs. A wide range of courses are taught in these programs including advanced courses in the areas of fixed income management, derivatives/risk management, econometrics, and financial analytics. The candidate will be evaluated on a wide range of credentials including quantitative background, publications, teaching experience, relevant industry experience, and the ability (plus interest) to deliver advanced courses to support various programs. Ability to teach PhD-level methodology courses would be preferred.

The typical teaching schedule is four courses per academic year for the first five years on tenure-track, four or five after that depending on research productivity. Faculty must be qualified by AACSB standards at time of hire and must maintain such qualifications on a continuing basis. The Saunders College values collegial individuals who are excellent communicators, innovative teachers, and active researchers.

For the associate level, candidates must hold a Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent and have a record of outstanding teaching and scholarship, as well as evidence of leadership experience in college or university service. Professional finance or business experience and professional certification in finance are preferred, as is evidence of significant interaction with the business community. Evidence of ability to mentor pre-tenure faculty is also required. Also, ability to teach PhD-level methodology courses would be preferred.

The Saunders College of Business is served by over 60 full-time faculty members who value collegiality and teamwork. The Saunders College is accredited by AACSB International and offers bachelors’ degrees in business administration with eight different majors. Graduate programs include a traditional MBA, an MS in Accounting, two Executive MBA programs, and MS in Finance, Business Analytics, and Global Supply Chain Management, . The Saunders College is highly ranked by US News and World Report, Princeton Review, and Business Week. The College offers extensive software support and databases including Compustat, CRSP, CSMAR, Eventus, and Audit Analytics, and provides excellent support for research and conference participation. The Albert J. Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship enhances entrepreneurship activities, including the RIT Venture Creations Incubator. The program for innovation and entrepreneurship was ranked as one of the most innovative programs in the world by Business Week.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Finance or a closely-related field. Candidates who are ABD with expected completion by December 2022 may be considered. Candidates meeting this requirement will be evaluated using a variety of criteria related to the job including the following:
  • Skills, background, experience and interest relevant to supporting the graduate and undergraduate finance programs we offer as well as the upcoming Ph.D. program.
  • Strong publication potential as evidenced by such things as a promising dissertation, a promising program of research, articles under review, and publications at reputable journals.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • A high potential for synergy and collaborative work both in curriculum/teaching and in research.
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
Expectations relative to these criteria will be commensurately higher for candidates applying for the Associate Professor position
