Job Summary

This position requires interfacing with all data collection, transfer and reporting aspects of the University Health and Wellness Program including COVID-19 related operations conducted throughout Drexel University. Areas include athletics, student health and contact tracing, University COVID-19 testing sites, REDCap administration, data collected through the Drexel Health Tracker, and Drexel data analytics teams. A successful candidate will be able to identify any issues in the data pipeline and locate and work with the correct individuals needed to implement fixes. Additionally, this position will require the ongoing development and management of data pipelines necessary for testing paradigms that may develop on the basis of local, state, federal, or university requirements (e.g. random testing of certain subgroups, screening for employees). This position will also be involved in auditing data to ensure data quality.

This position requires an intimate knowledge of reporting requirements and practices as well as analytics and will need to have a comprehensive understanding of the data needs of all interested parties including the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Drexel University, and partner hospitals. This position will report directly with the University Chief Wellness Officer to ensure that operations are running effectively and efficiently.

Essential Functions
  • Regularly assess and clean data received from e-surveillance mechanisms to assure completeness, timeliness and accuracy of collected information
  • Work with teams of contact tracers to manage qualitative data received from interviews with contacts of confirmed cases
  • Utilize web-based platforms to ensure that electronic reporting of symptoms is uploaded into databases
  • Provide trainings to contact tracers on utilization of contact tracing technology and troubleshoot any issues they are experiencing with this technology
  • Clean data to ensure that reports of positive cases, symptomatic individuals or other high-risk exposures are reported to an individual for direct follow-up
  • Provide basic IT support to contact tracing teams when necessary and resolve issues that may arise with web-based technologies
  • Work with other data managers in the Division to ensure that you are following a uniform protocol for data entry
  • Design and perform data analysis on specific analytic projects
  • Serve as the liaison to the Drexel Health Tracker Application development team
  • Additional responsibilities as pandemic conditions evolve
  • Other data-related functions in the Health and Wellness Program.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree required, public health or Informatics concentrations preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in data management
  • Experience working with REDCap databases including the generation of reports and editing existing forms
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and CLIA requirements
  • Strong understanding of data analytics
  • The position may require local travel and occasional participation in off-site functions.
  • The position requires responding to public health emergencies and at times requires rapid turnaround of communications on short notice.
