Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an applicant for an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Cyber and Computer Science. The Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences (CCS) has 6 full-time faculty (hiring for two positions in AY 2021-22) and 7 adjunct faculty . The department offers a B.S. in Computer Science, B.S. in Cyber Operations, Minors in Cybersecurity, Cyber Inter-disciplinary Studies, Data Science, and Computer Programming, an M.S. (jointly with College of Charleston) in Computer and Information Sciences, Graduate Certificates in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering. Currently the department has around 120 students in the Computer Science and Cyber Operations programs, and it serves around 200 students from other departments by offering service courses (CSCI 227, CSCI 205, and CSCI 210) . Students in CCS have formed three clubs – Cybersecurity Club, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), and ACM Local Chapter Club . Students in CCS participate in at least 5 off-campus, regional contests through the academic year. Most of the seniors work on research projects under the supervision of faculty and publish and present their papers in conferences. Faculty and students in CCS are currently involved with 9 external and 5 internal grants. This position is responsible for the following:

  • Maintaining documents related to external and internal grants; must be able to understands how to work with Financial Services for processing grant documents, understands how to coordinate with other colleges/universities.
  • Responsible for all administrative functions of the office; greet visitors/faculty/staff/students, answer phone calls and take messages if needed, typing, filing, etc.
  • Coordinates and inputs all the class scheduling; to include room assignments for Cyber and Computer Science courses and Thompson Hall Labs by Citadel and non-Citadel users.
  • Monitors departmental budgets; screens all requests for purchase and travel requests for consistency with procurement and financial service policies and procedures as well as reconciles departmental purchasing cards.
  • Provides support for student activities; to include submitting cadet orders, assisting cadets with travel arrangements for conferences and contests, and coordinating club meetings.
  • Maintains and coordinates departmental social media and webpage content.


Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma. Related clerical/administrative experience. Proficiency in Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in finances/grant documents.
