Job Summary:

60% - Utilizes veterinary medical knowledge to triage all incoming client calls to the Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) specialty service to appropriately and garner appropriate care for patients
- Acts as service's main point of client contact by coordinating and communicating patient care needs with the service, the client, and the referring veterinarian (rDVM)
- Assists with post-appointment communications, such as discharge instruction and/or billing inquiries, prescription refills, and assisting with rDVM follow-up inquiries

40% - Provide administrative support to the ECC specialty service
- Maintains the specialty service's schedule in electronic medical records system and schedules all new and continuing care appointments according to service requirements
- Assists with appointment preparation by obtaining patient's rDVM records, addressing any client pre-appointment questions or concerns, scheduling diagnostics, preparing medical records, and ensuring clinicians are prepared for upcoming appointments
- Monitors the service's email account and message board and responds daily to various inquiries or passes on to service for further handling
- Assists with maintaining records regarding animal treatments, medications, diagnostic procedures, and illness
- Assists with charge entry and verification in the electronic medical records system
- Other duties as assigned

Education:

Required
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

At least 1 year of phone reception experience preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with medical records preferred. Background in medical terminology preferred.

Additional Information:

Requires advanced customer service skills, problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Physical Demands:
1. Ability to operate telephone, computer, copy machine and fax machine.
2. Ability to sit for long periods of time
3. Ability to stand and walk, and occasionally to carry objects up to 30 pounds.
4. Ability to stand in medical record aisles and reach up or down for records, and occasionally to use a step stool to reach high records
