The University of St. Thomas (, a private Catholic university, located in Houston, Texas, the nation's fourth largest city, committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of History. The position reports to the Chair of the History Department within the Division of Liberal Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences.

The successful candidate will receive a dual appointment in the Department of the Core and the Department of History and will be expected to teach the Core Curriculum course Historical Consciousness, as well as courses in the undergraduate history major. Depending on expertise, the position may also include teaching in the Integrated Humanities and Master of Liberal Arts programs.

The duties and responsibilities of the history professor at UST require the highest standards of commitment to student outcomes, collegiality, and commitment to the mission of the university.

The University of St. Thomas is committed to hiring faculty who can help it not only fulfill its integrated mission - the formation of the whole person for flourishing in this life and the next - but also advance it in new ways. The University's Catholic identity is the center of this mission, a Catholicism expressed for our own age by the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Pope St. John Paul II's Ex Corde Ecclesiae. The University asks all candidates applying for this position to consider these documents to ensure their professional goals and practices can align with them.
