The Department of Film & Media Arts seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in the research area of fiction film production. The successful candidate will have experience with all aspects of the creative process in fiction filmmaking; a record of ongoing creative work, evidence of which may include professional credits and festival screenings; and successful experience teaching college-level film production courses in areas like screenwriting, directing, and producing. Particular attention will be paid to applicants who have experience creating work for a range of media platforms including film, television, animation, interactive and immersive media, and other emerging media formats, and who will thus be prepared to support students across the breadth of our programs in filmmaking, animation, and media arts production. Our ideal candidate will be well positioned to mentor students as they transition from university to industry. The Department of Film & Media Arts is the largest unit the University of Utah’s College of Fine Arts, with over 700 undergraduate and graduate majors studying all aspects of film, animation, and media arts production.
