Job Description:

Under the direction of the Dean of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, the Administrative and Instructional Technology Assistant is responsible for the management of instructional spaces in the Faculty Center, providing in-person and virtual support and training in the use of instructional technologies to individuals and groups; supporting the administrative needs of the Faculty Center, its learning spaces, and the collaborative initiatives in which the Faculty Center and the  Dean of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment are engaged.

Essential Functions:

1. Space and administrative responsibilities:

  • Act as the initial contact for Faculty, Staff and visitors of the Faculty Center;
  • Support the use of instructional technologies available in the Faculty Center and work to create an active learning environment;
  • Respond to questions and requests and, when appropriate, refer to appropriate resource or person; respond to queries forwarded from the  Dean of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment and the Senior Instructional Technologist;
  • Manage the instructional spaces and equipment in the Faculty Center (copier machine, printers and other office equipment); provide general oversight for the efficient operation of the Faculty Center through coordination of School Dude requests, and working with the Buildings and Grounds Department on any emergent needs.

2. Operations coordination:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation for events and assist with event planning and execution; Responsibilities include but are not limited to; room reservations, invitation design / dissemination (with assistance from Institutional Advancement as necessary), coordinating catering etc. for events such as the annual Faculty/Staff Retirement Party, Faculty Retreat, Faculty Search Committee Interviews, and New Faculty orientation;
  • Design and Coordinate dissemination of Faculty Center Newsletter;
  • Use appropriate technology to gather and share data on center utilization, including space, events, technologies, and time; take lead on survey design, dissemination, and data collection utilizing programs such as Qualtrics;
  • Use internal technology systems (Banner, CWIS) to run reports to support programming, process expenditures, purchase order completion, etc;
  • Coordinate, complete or assist with all departmental communications and outreach efforts.

3. Technology support:

  • Train faculty in the use of instructional technology; includes assistance with software such as Canvas, Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor, Panopto, Zoom, and Qualtrics.  Responsible for learning applications as they are added;
  • Support innovative uses of technology in the curriculum, including but not limited to; researching software programs, piloting, and providing input/assistance with new software implementation;
  • Create and edit guide sheets and forms of tutorials;
  • Manage various social media channels; provide updates, promote and market events and services offered, and disseminate relevant content using professional judgment;
  • Primary responsibility for troubleshooting and resolving instructional technology issues;
  • Maintain and update Faculty Community portal pages;
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the College to support the effective use of technology by faculty, students, and staff.                  

Additional Functions:

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two to five years' experience with ongoing willingness to learn new technologies, software packages, and processes, especially in the instructional technology area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to effectively deal with a variety of individuals.
  • Demonstrable computing and technology skills and efficiency utilizing complex computing applications on the systems and programs of College's choice; currently by way of example, Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite, MacOS.
  • Ability to follow-up, follow-through, multi-task, set priorities and adhere to deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multimedia skills, such as video production and editing, or equivalent.
  • Project management skills, including demonstrated competency in both guiding and contributing expertise to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience designing and delivering workshops & other faculty development events.
