Butler University seeks a collaborative leader to join the Student Affairs team as an Assistant Director in the Office of Student Activities. This Assistant Director will advance BU|BeWell by coordinating training and co-curricular programs that enhance student well-being and engagement, and will manage tools and services for the student organizations community. This Assistant Director will actively contribute to the vibrant campus environment and collaborate with campus and community partners to enhance the holistic development of the Butler University student body.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the University's strategic goal of creating a
culture of empowerment, engagement, and accountability by
implementing programs, training and systems that develop student
leaders and enhance student organizations.
- Oversee all aspects of student organization management
including the recognition and registration process; electronic
platform; and support systems associated with student
organizations
- Oversee development, review and implementation of student
organization policies and procedures with a focus on risk
mitigation
- Serve as a resource for student organization leaders and
advisors including overseeing the event registration process in EMS
and Butler Engage
- Serve as a resource for student organization leaders and
advisors to ensure successful operations of their student
organization
- Advance BU|BeWell and the Butler University Strategic Plan by
working with staff from the Office of Student Activities to create,
implement and assess a leadership curriculum focused on skill
development across the eight dimensions of wellbeing
- Coordinate introductory engagement opportunities for
students
- Support departmental efforts, programs, and initiatives
- Advise components of Student Government Association (SGA)
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate should be a collaborative, innovative leader with a passion for developing student leaders. A master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field is required.
The successful candidate will possess the following professional qualifications and personal characteristics:
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and
inclusion
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working
relationships
- Experience advising college students
- Understanding of college student development
- Desire to have a high level of engagement with students
- Creative, innovative, and collaborative approach
- Command of technology including social media and other online
sources
