Under general instruction, incumbent provides reception and
customer service, event and general office support. Due to the
nature of issues/activities handled in the Human Resources Services
Center, the position requires considerable judgment and discretion
in handling complex and confidential issues related to student,
faculty, and staff and a variety of interactions at the highest
levels within and outside the University. Day-to-day work is
performed relatively independently with general instructions except
for new assignments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Incumbent must possess:
Thorough knowledge of:
- English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
- Office methods, procedures and practices.
- Fluency in using standard office equipment (computers, copiers,
phones) and standard office software packages such as, Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and related computer software
- General working knowledge of applicable University
infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
Incumbent must possess:
- Active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills as
work often involves frontline contacts with a variety of campus and
- Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and
communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and

Incumbent must have the ability to:

Required Education and/or Experience
This position requires experience to be proficient in performing
most or all work assignments and should include administrative
support, coordinating and prioritizing many different clerical
tasks, applying and communicating policies and procedures. These
qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained
through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and
two years recent experience in an office environment.
Additional Requirements for this Position
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they
may be considered specialized skills.
- Recent experience as a customer service representative in an
interactive office environment.
- Experience communicating complex information and changes to a

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential
job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable
accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a
stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods
of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Event
support includes frequent lifting and moving of event supplies (
not more than 20 lbs), transporting supplies to the venue,
unloading supplies, setting up decor and event break-down, may
involve climbing ladders and crawling under tables. Due to the
nature of the work additional or irregular hours such as early
morning, evening hours, and weekends may be required. Will need to
travel across campus to other offices and buildings for meetings
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
This position involves frequent to constant interaction with
students, parents, faculty, staff and the public. The office is a
typical office environment with standard office equipment. This is
a fast-paced environment requiring a flexible schedule. Due to the
nature of the work additional or irregular hours such as early
morning, evening hours, and weekends is required for special
events. May occasionally work outside and locations may include
even and uneven walking surfaces, exposure to weather changes such
as temperatures, humidity or precipitation.
This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver
CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick
leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU
benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a
period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than
half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU
benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.
Eligibility for Affordable Care Act ( ACA ) benefits is based on an
appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum
of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works
an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement
period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash
only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
