Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Technology Services Operations Manager position. The Technology Services Operations Manager is a full-time, year-round position, job group and level SM-2. The Technology Services Operations Manager works in a team environment supporting the day-to-day operations of both technical and administrative aspects of ITSS, manages the diverse technology support services team, assigns tasks and projects to team members, reviews the quality of work, and meets project deadlines. As the leader of the technology support services team, ensures the provision of innovative, reliable, high-quality technology services in academic and administrative applications in areas such as faculty support for teaching and scholarship, support for student learning, and support for the staff of the College. As a member of the Information Technology (IT) team, collaborates with other members of IT to provide an information technology environment that meets the needs of the campus community and enhances the essential service function of Information Technology.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
  • In coordination with the Director of ITSS, lead ITSS and IT project and process teams related with technology support services to provide excellent services that are timely and appropriate for the needs of the College.
  • With appropriate consultation, develops and implements a comprehensive technical support services strategy for the College. To that end, the Technology Services Operations Manager participates in crafting policies and protocols related with the technology support needs of the College.
  • Assist a diverse set of students, faculty, and staff members in the use of desktop computers and applications.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of workshops and classes to demonstrate products and methodologies of using technology.
  • Lead by example in committing to developing in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion, and support the team in developing in these areas as well.
  • Provide expert technology and problem-solving support to team members. Assist with the development of web pages to fulfill the needs of the College.
  • Assist in the development, deployment, and support of new technology tools.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation as needed.
  • Provide primary support to administrative divisions as assigned.
  • Advise Director of ITSS on current agreements and purchasing decisions.
  • Manage day-to-day functions of the department in the absence of the Director, on a rotating basis.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Technology Certifications
  • At least five years of experience providing technology support services to a diverse audience.
  • Expert knowledge of current Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and web content creation and management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to working collaboratively to support a diverse community.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field
  • At least seven years of experience providing technology support services to a diverse audience.
  • Experience managing a staff responsible for service delivery
  • Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and best practices for technology support.
